Catalysing change.

for just and ethical sustainability transformations

About us

The GoodMess is a purpose-driven changemaking consultancy that seeks to catalyse just and ethical sustainability transitions, locally and globally.

With a strong academic background, we are specialised in questions of social and health care, migration, ethics of international talent acquisition, gendered global health and peace and conflict research.

With versatile skills in qualitative research, we tailor our toolbox to meet the clients’ needs: What you need depends on the “good mess” that you seek to understand and disentangle.

We do not shy away from complex problems. We embrace complexity.

Services

How can we help you?

Research services

We provide commissioned studies, research consultancy, project management and leadership, grant-writing and consortium building services, communication and other research services to both private and public sector actors as well as international and national non-governmental organisations.

Utilising our multi-disciplinary partnership networks with PhD-trained international experts, we can put together most high-level teams, tailored to meet the clients’ needs.

We help research organisations and industries to disseminate research findings for wider audiences effectively. Be it a research article, blog post, theater play, conference, podcast, online course or organising a comedy club we can help you disseminate your research findings in most creative ways.

Or perhaps you have an urgent need for out-of-the box ideas for radically sustainable innovations — but no RDI funding to pursue the innovations?

Let us help you to put together a multi-disciplinary consortium to cross-pollinate knowledge for sustainability transformations.

Speaking services

Are you looking for a speaker or host to your event who can provide cutting-edge, research-based knowledge in a manner that is entertaining, passionate, funny and witty, while also provocative, informative? Do not turn to traditional speakers’ offices. Call us first.

Our speaker services are backed not only by our CEO Tiina Vaittinen’s hundreds of hours of experience in university lecturing for different disciplines, keynote talks, panel discussions, hosting and organising of multi-disciplinary international conferences…but also, perhaps most importantly, her contacts with most interesting speakers and experts that are not listed on traditional speaker’s offices.

We operate in English and Finnish, but through our expert networks, we can organise high-level speakers to your events also in other languages.

We may be The GoodMess, but our message-delivering capacities are far from messy and unclear.

Strategy consultancy

We provide strategy consultancy for public, private and third sector organisations.

Be it about ethical practices of international labor recruitment, or the desire to reduce the environmental burden of care delivery, do get in touch.

E.g.

  • Health care organisations that seek to develop their practices of care so that less material is needed for the production of good, ecologically sustainble care care would benefit from our services.
  • For companies planning international recruitment of labor and talent acquisition, we tailor research-based strategies for ethical recruitment that centre justice and human rights, while supporting genuinely sustainable business.

Co-creative workshops and events

Bringing together versatile and multi-disciplinary networks with shared passions, and translating knowledge across different perspectives, is our superpower.

Do you want to organise a multi-stakekeholder event, with the aim to co-produce radically new knowledge on messy challenges?

Or perhaps you need highly-trained experts to design and facilitate individual workshops?

Or, how about bringing together diverse networks of stakeholders that can help you solve intractable problems?

We can help you bring together the kind of expertise that you rarely see sitting around the same table.

When the most brilliant minds from different disciplines and background meet, to discuss shared passions and challenges, we can assure you — magic happens, and what used to be a mess turns into a puzzle that is possible to solve.

The world is a complex mess.

But it is a good mess. One that can and should be deeply understood.

Solving the great challenges of our time — from planetary polycrisis to multi-species care deficits — requires an approach that embraces the world in its full complexity.

Get in touch and let us know what kind of a “mess” or a complex challenge we can help you with.

We promise not to force it into some neat boxes it doesn’t fit in. Instead, we help you make sense of the complexity.

Let’s join forces, and figure out ways to fit our life sustainably within the planetary boundaries — in ways that the needs of all are met and respected.

Networks of togetherness

The philosophy of The GoodMess is about collaboration, not competition. Today we need to build teams, collaborations, partnerships and networks of togetherness like never before.

To fully comprehend the complexity of the world requires combinations of different skillsets and perspectives. The GoodMess is specialised in identifying the root causes of challenges that seem “messy” and intractable. Simultaneously, we know when our own skills are not adequate in pursuing the solutions.

While we are a small company, we have extensive global networks, with capacity to build radically interdisciplinary partnerships for the clients’ needs.

After all, catalysing sustainability transitions is something that no individual actor can ever do on their own. It is about team work and collaboration — networks of planetary togetherness.
